Nationally, she worked with President Hoover and F.D.R. on topics like women\u2019s rights, pacifism, and the League of Nations. Most notably, she was appointed by Hoover to serve as one of the very few women (if not the only) at the Conference on Reduction and Limitation of Armaments to hopefully <a href=\"http:\/\/lzigelyte.digitalscholar.rochester.edu\/LGBTQexperiences\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_5032.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-314 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/lzigelyte.digitalscholar.rochester.edu\/LGBTQexperiences\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_5032-300x205.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"205\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lzigelyte.digitalscholar.rochester.edu\/LGBTQexperiences\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_5032-300x205.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lzigelyte.digitalscholar.rochester.edu\/LGBTQexperiences\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_5032.jpg 412w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>counteract Nazi Germany. During all of this time, there was an exchange of letters between her and her partner, Jeanette Marks, which are some of the most beautiful writings I\u2019ve read (https:\/\/transcribe.mtholyoke.edu\/collections\/show\/1). LGBTQ+ individuals have always been present in society, you just have to find them.
